Four Tips on Bathroom Renovations
Bathroom renovations can be tough, but they are necessary if your plumbing systems and floor design are poor. Bathrooms can wear down easily with excessive use, so if you’re a homeowner and you need to renovate your bathroom, here are four easy tips on how you can get it done in the most cost efficient way possible.
1. Talk to a Plumber First
If you don’t talk to a plumber, then you won’t be able to remove sink and toilet plumbing and replace it with something new and fresh. If you want to completely renovate your bathroom, then that will probably involve moving the toilet and sink around. You really can’t get this done without a plumber, so make sure you call one up and have them scope the room out before you even think about starting the renovations.
2. Come Up With a Pattern
Most bathrooms have a color scheme to them, even if it’s just plain white. Some bathrooms will have brown towels and bath mats to match the white or black tiling, but others use fun colors like lavender and blue to liven the place up a bit. Come up with a pattern that you’re happy with so that you can match the walls and tiling to the cabinets, sink, toilet, bathtub and décor. Wood walls also work well aesthetically for a bathroom, but make sure whatever wood paneling you have isn’t in the way of a source of water.
3. Discuss Your Ideas with a Home Design Professional
If you want professional opinions on your ideas or you simply just don’t know where to get started in the renovation process, then talk to a home décor and design specialist. They sleep, eat and breathe this sort of thing, so ask them to come to your house and take a look at your bathroom. If you don’t want them to come to your house, then simply sending pictures or describing the bathroom on the phone will suffice. There are also plenty of home design websites and specialists that have online companies, like Kitchen Bathroom Remodeling.
4. Don’t Buy the Most Expensive Toilet
It might be tempting to buy that golden toilet or platinum sink, but please try and refrain. If you aren’t on a budget, then by all means, get whatever your heart desires, but if all of your renovation money is going to go into these super expensive items, then reconsider. A plain porcelain sink and toilet will be just as good in the long run. If you really want, you can get your toilet and sink painted later on to resemble the pricier models.
Bathroom renovations don’t have to be a nightmare. They can actually be pretty simple if you talk to the right people. Make sure you have an installation specialist and a plumber for every piece of furniture and equipment in the bathroom. Don’t try to install anything yourself because if you make one mistake and break something, it could potentially cost you more money to fix. Spend the money now to avoid spending even more in the future.
