Sunroom Additions in Northern VA, DC Metro, and Maryland.
Sunroom Additions are our number one requested & completed addition by sheer volume. Sunrooms can add a wonderful and relaxing space to use daily by yourself and with your family.
Whether you are trying to create a Four Season Sunroom, a traditional Sunroom, a Solarium or Sunroom Atrium we can give you some tried and true suggestions & layouts that will complement the rest of your home.
Four Season Sunrooms:
Our definition of a four season sunroom is one that is comfortable to use in all four seasons. Sounds simple enough, but in the design process we take into account the direction that your new sunroom faces in relation to the sun in all seasons. We make sure that your new addition will be adequetly heated in the fall, winter and spring months and adequetly cooled in the spring, summer and fall months. Again, it sounds simple enough, but this is tricky for most builders…we keep it simple for you and we do the hard work!
Once you have decided the uses for your sunroom and whether or not it will be a four season sunroom we can then move on to the differenttypes of sunrooms available and the different materials that we will use to create your new sunroom.
Classic Sunroom Addition:
We have designed and built hundreds of classic sunrooms as additions to peoples’ homes in Virginia, Maryland and the Washington, DC Metro Areas. From cathedral ceilings & vaulted ceilings with tremendous skylights and ceiling fans to windowed walls we can give you a look for your new sunroom that will improve the look and feel of your home. Some of the most popular features of a sunroom addition are:
- Skylights
- Gas Fireplaces
- Walls of windows
- Wet bars
- Built-In Shelving
- Built-In Entertainment Centers (Tricky because most sunrooms have a lot of light and televisions don’t do well with the light…but, we have designs to work around this)
- Built-In Desks
- Intercom Systems to the rest of the home
- Wood-Burning Fireplaces
Solariums & Aluminum Framed All Glass Sunrooms:
Solariums are about the cheapest way to add on a spectacular living space to most homes. Solariums are generally all glass except for the framing so they won’t give you the built-ins that can be achieved in a classic sunroom addition, but they are easier on the budget. If you’re budget is tight, then please enquire about a Solarium Addition for your home.
Sunroom Atrium:
The basic difference between a sunroom atrium and a solarium is the basic shape of the sunroom addition. An atrium, is as it sounds, a high ceiling and usually comes to a peak in the middle of the atrium ceiling. The atrium is usually a hybrid between the classic sunroom and the solarium. The atriums are usually built like a classic addition…out of brick and mortar and allow for the built-ins that you might be looking for while they are mostly glass ceilings and can have walls of glass also.
