4 Country-Chic Kitchen Remodeling Ideas
Country-chic kitchens are popular in contemporary décor schemes nowadays. They create a soft, homey environment to rural and non-rural areas alike. If you’re looking to remodel your kitchen and you like the idea of adding a nice, farmhouse charm to it, then use these kitchen remodeling ideas to get that country-chic glow you’re looking for.
1. Use Wood Instead of Metal
A nice, finished birch wood can create a homey, welcoming look to your kitchen. Many kitchen remodelers use metal tables and counters because they believe that they’re safer. However, you can fire-proof your wood furniture and create the same security metal furniture would give. Not only that, but finished wood is safer and warps a lot more slowly than unfinished wood.
Instead of the basic, expected kitchen tiles, install a wood floor. Wood really gives off that country vibe that you’re looking for. Tiles are used for more modern, contemporary kitchens. If you want, use a marble top for your counters. Marble countertops look really good and they make it easier to clean up after cooking.
2. Use a Light Color Scheme
Country-chic patterns are made for light colors, so try to avoid using darker colors. Use a nice, pale blue or periwinkle, a very light brown, a pale yellow or plain white if you want to get the full country-chic look. Try not to use black, purple, green or any color that draws attention to itself. The country-chic look calls for a subtle, modest scheme, so create a look that doesn’t have anything standing out.
3. Buy Floral Arrangements
Many country-chic kitchens use flowers as the centerpiece for the kitchen table or counters. Lilacs and white roses are especially fitting for a light color pattern, but you can pick up different types of flowers like pansies in lighter colors as well. Pick a floral arrangement that really complements the color scheme you chose. If you want to keep the same arrangement for a long period of time, use fake flowers instead of real ones because they’re easier to maintain and they last for a longer amount of time.
4. Use Natural Lighting
A large part of the country experience is that the curtains are open and sunlight is always being let in through the windows. Install large windows if you want to get the most out of natural lighting. Install lights to use when it’s nighttime, but the use of natural lighting during the daytime will cut the cost of your electricity bill exponentially. Natural sunlight has also been proven to improve health, well-being, and overall mood.
Don’t make remodeling a chore if you can avoid it – it can be really fun deciding every little detail about what your kitchen is going to be like. Remodeling can obviously be stressful at times, but you’ll hopefully be happy in the end and that’s what will make it all worth it. Decide the best course of action for you to take and create the kitchen that you’ve always dreamed of having.
